Most people who take it orally don't report side effects, though some have experienced gastrointestinal complaints like abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation.

Rare serious side effects have been reported, including liver and kidney injury, seizures, and in one case a patient who drank very large amounts of tribulus water developed seizures, hepatitis, and acute kidney injury. Avoid Tribulus Gold during pregnancy because it may affect hormones and safety is not established.

Do not use while breastfeeding due to lack of reliable safety information.

Taking tribulus with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
