HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Triphala Fruit Powder by Organic India
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Triphala Fruit Powder is a blend of three traditional Ayurvedic fruits: amla powder (Indian gooseberry), haritaki powder, and vibhitaki powder. Amla is the ingredient we have the most information on; it's used in these formulas for digestive and antioxidant support.
There are no inactive fillers or binders listed for this product — it's powder only.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Amla has some research backing for acid reflux (GERD), where it's rated possibly effective. It's also possibly effective for high cholesterol (dyslipidemia).
For hair loss (androgenic alopecia), the evidence isn't strong enough yet to rate how well it works. We don't have effectiveness data on file for the other two powders in the blend.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Amla is generally well tolerated when used as a food, though supplement safety at higher doses hasn't been as well studied. In clinical trials, a small number of participants reported stomach discomfort or indigestion, and even fewer reported fatigue or muscle pain.
There isn't enough safety data to recommend this product during breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're nursing before you take it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take blood thinners (anticoagulants), antiplatelet drugs like clopidogrel (Plavix), aspirin, or diabetes medications, check with your pharmacist before starting this product. The amla in Triphala may increase bleeding risk or lower your blood sugar too much.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Triphala can be a reasonable option if you're looking at it for reflux or cholesterol support — but only if you don't take blood thinners, diabetes drugs, or aspirin. If you're on any of those, check with your pharmacist first.

Triphala Fruit Powder by Organic India Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Triphala Fruit Powder by Organic India contains amla powder, which interacts with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners (anticoagulants) and antiplatelet drugs like clopidogrel (Plavix) — amla may increase bleeding risk. Clinical research shows it reduces platelet clumping by about 24% to 36% and increases bleeding time by 3.8–5.9 seconds, though study results are mixed.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Amla also interacts with diabetes medications. It can lower blood sugar levels, which means your diabetes drug doses might need adjusting to avoid low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
You should monitor your levels closely if you're on antidiabetes medications.
Aspirin poses a similar bleeding concern as the other anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs listed above. We could not check two of the three ingredients in this product — haritaki powder and vibhitaki powder — because we hold no interaction data for them.
Altogether, these interactions span 207 individual medications.

Amla powder
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, Indian gooseberry may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs; however, research is conflicting.
Clinical research shows that taking Indian gooseberry 500 mg as a single dose or twice daily for 10 days reduces platelet aggregation by about 24% to 36%, increases bleeding time by about 3.8-5.9 seconds, and increases clotting time by about 9.8-12.7 seconds when compared to baseline. However, taking Indian gooseberry 500 mg along with clopidogrel 75 mg or ecosprin 75 mg, as a single dose or for 10 days, does not significantly reduce platelet aggregation or increase bleeding time or clotting time when compared with clopidogrel 75 mg or ecosprin 75 mg alone. Until more is known, use caution when taking Indian gooseberry in combination with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Taking Indian gooseberry with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research shows that taking Indian gooseberry fruit or fruit extract alone or in conjunction with antidiabetes medications can lower blood glucose levels. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary.
Aspirin
Theoretically, Indian gooseberry may increase the risk of bleeding if used with aspirin; however, research is conflicting.
However, taking a single dose of Indian gooseberry 500 mg along with ecosprin 75 mg, or taking a combination of Indian gooseberry 500 mg twice daily plus ecosprin 75 mg once daily for 10 days, does not significantly reduce platelet aggregation or increase bleeding time or clotting time when compared with ecosprin 75 mg alone.
Clopidogrel (Plavix)
Theoretically, Indian gooseberry may increase the risk of bleeding if used with clopidogrel; however, research is conflicting.
