HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Vidophilus 35 Billion by Vitabase
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Vidophilus 35 Billion contains 10 active ingredients: four Bifidobacterium species (longum, lactis, bifidum), four Lactobacillus species (acidophilus, plantarum, rhamnosus, bulgaricus, and salivarius), plus a prebiotic blend of FOS and larch arabinogalactan. These are all live beneficial bacteria meant to support your gut health, along with food (the prebiotic fiber) to help them grow.
The capsule is made from cellulose, magnesium stearate, vegetable stearin, and silica—standard inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
For most conditions listed, evidence is insufficient to say whether this product works. The Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus in this blend are rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and Lactobacillus acidophilus is also possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea, H. pylori support, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is rated possibly effective for respiratory tract infections. The data on the other ingredients or conditions is too limited for us to make a claim.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people. That said, if you're seriously ill, hospitalized, have a weakened immune system, or are in critical condition, there's caution needed: rare cases of infection (bacteremia or sepsis) from these bacteria have been documented in very vulnerable patients.
Gastrointestinal side effects—bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort—have been reported rarely. Pregnancy and lactation data are limited; the Bifidobacterium longum is rated possibly safe, but for the other ingredients we either have no safety information or minimal data, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product while pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your medications against these two types before taking this product: antibiotic drugs (Moderate severity—they can reduce how well the probiotics work; space them apart by a few hours), and immunosuppressant drugs like cyclosporine, tacrolimus, or mycophenolate (Moderate severity—the fiber may interfere with your medication's effect). Use the checker below for your exact drugs.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have a healthy immune system and no serious illness, this probiotic blend is generally well tolerated. If you take antibiotics, separate them from this product by a few hours so the bacteria don't get killed off.
If you're on an immunosuppressant drug, check with your pharmacist first. And if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a weakened immune system, talk to your doctor before starting.

Vidophilus 35 Billion by Vitabase Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Vidophilus 35 Billion by Vitabase contains several probiotic bacteria and a prebiotic fiber.
The most serious interaction we've documented is with immunosuppressant drugs (like cyclosporine, tacrolimus, and mycophenolate): the larch arabinogalactan in this product has immunostimulant effects that may theoretically interfere with how these medications work.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The bigger concern, though, is antibiotic drugs. Four of the active bacterial ingredients—Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Lactobacillus delbrueckii—can be killed by antibiotics if you take them at the same time.
That means the probiotic may lose its effectiveness. The fix is straightforward: separate your antibiotic doses from this product by a few hours.
We could not check three other probiotic species in this blend (Bifidobacterium lactis, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Lactobacillus salivarius) because we hold no interaction data for them. Altogether, these interactions span 298 individual medications.
Use the medication checker on this page to look up your exact drugs.
