HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Vitamin B-12 Blueberry Flavor by OL Olympian Labs
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: vitamin B12, the water-soluble vitamin your body needs for nerve function, red blood cell formation, and DNA work. The tablet also includes several inactive ingredients — sorbitol, fructose, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, and natural blueberry flavor — which are fillers and flavorings to make the tablet shelf-stable and palatable.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Vitamin B12 is effective for treating B12 deficiency itself and for Imerslund-Grasbeck disease, a rare genetic condition that affects B12 absorption. It's also likely effective for cyanide poisoning.
The evidence is less robust for canker sores and postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain after shingles), where it's rated possibly effective — meaning there's some promise, but we don't yet have strong proof.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
B12 taken by mouth is generally very well tolerated. Your body excretes excess B12 in urine, so there's no established upper limit — you can't overdose on it.
A small number of people have reported allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or hives, though these are uncommon. If you have a known allergy to cobalt (a component of the B12 molecule), mention that to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this.
B12 is considered safe and needed during pregnancy and breastfeeding at recommended amounts. Follow your healthcare provider's guidance on dosing.
Meds to double-check
Minor interactions only
If you take metformin (Glucophage) for diabetes, mention this supplement to your doctor or pharmacist — the two can work together to prevent a B12 shortfall, but they'll want to track your levels. No other major interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a straightforward B12 supplement — good for anyone with a documented deficiency, and potentially helpful if you take metformin for diabetes since that drug can interfere with B12 absorption. It's very safe and your body handles excess easily.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting, especially if you take metformin or have other health conditions or medications.

Vitamin B-12 Blueberry Flavor by OL Olympian Labs Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Vitamin B-12 Blueberry Flavor by OL Olympian Labs has one documented interaction we track: with metformin (Glucophage), a common diabetes medication.
This is a Minor interaction. Metformin can lower how much B12 your body absorbs from food and supplements, which over time might lead to a deficiency — so if you take metformin, this supplement may actually help prevent that drop, but it's worth mentioning to your doctor or pharmacist so they can monitor your B12 levels if needed.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Altogether, these interactions span 20 individual medications.
If you take metformin or any other prescription drug, run it through the checker on this page before you start. That said, the interaction we do have documented is relatively minor, and B12 supplementation is often recommended alongside metformin for exactly this reason.
