What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: vitamin B12 at 2500 mcg per tablet. B12 is a water-soluble vitamin your body uses to make red blood cells, support nerve function, and convert food into energy.
The rest of the tablet is made up of inactive ingredients — mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, citric acid, cranberry extract, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, cherry flavor, and sucralose — that help shape and preserve the tablet and give it its taste.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Vitamin B12 is effective for treating B12 deficiency and Imerslund-Grasbeck disease, a rare genetic disorder that interferes with B12 absorption. It's also likely effective for cyanide poisoning.
For canker sores and postherpetic neuralgia (a nerve pain that can follow shingles), the evidence suggests it may help, but proof is still limited. Talk with your doctor about whether this dose and form are right for what you're taking it for.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Vitamin B12 is generally well-tolerated when taken by mouth. It's very safe — your body clears excess B12 in your urine, so there's no established upper limit.
The most common side effects are rare; allergic reactions such as rash or itching can occur, and in one case, someone with a cobalt allergy developed a rash from oral B12 (cobalt is part of the B12 molecule). In pregnancy and breastfeeding, B12 is considered safe at recommended doses and is actually needed for your baby's health — but follow your provider's guidance on dosing.
Meds to double-check
Minor interactions only
The main medication type to double-check is metformin (Glucophage), used for type 2 diabetes — it can lower B12 absorption over time. No other drug interactions are documented in our data for this product, but confirm your complete medication list with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have B12 deficiency or need supplementation and you're not on metformin, this is a straightforward choice. If you take metformin, the interaction is minor and manageable, but mention this supplement to your doctor or pharmacist so they can monitor your B12 levels if needed.
Before you start, confirm with your own healthcare provider that it's right for you and won't conflict with anything else you're taking.
