Does it work?
Couldn't assess
We don't hold effectiveness ratings for yellow dock root in our data, so I can't tell you what the evidence shows it should do or how well it works for any particular purpose.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Yellow dock is generally well tolerated when properly prepared and taken in food amounts, but there are important cautions. It acts as a laxative and contains oxalates, so it's meant for short-term use only.
The safety data advises against yellow dock during pregnancy and while nursing because of its laxative effect and the risk of compounds passing into breast milk. Raw leaves or rhizomes can be unsafe and may cause serious side effects including low blood calcium (hypocalcemia), kidney stones, and vomiting — older or uncooked leaves should be avoided.
In very large amounts (500 grams), it has been linked to breathing problems and death. Yellow dock may also cause skin irritation (dermatitis) when consumed in large amounts or on contact with the plant if you're sensitive to it.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
Before you take this product, check if you're on any diuretics (water pills) or digoxin — both have Major severity interactions with yellow dock. Also check if you take warfarin (a blood thinner).
These are the medication types documented to interact with yellow dock root.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Yellow dock is best considered short-term use only, and you'll want to be cautious if you take diuretics, digoxin, or warfarin — those interactions are serious. Because of its laxative nature and the pregnancy and nursing warnings, talk with your pharmacist or doctor before you start, especially if you're pregnant, nursing, or taking any of those medications.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Yellow Dock Root 4:1 Extract Powder by TerraVita Premium Collection has documented interactions with several important medication types.
The most serious concern is with diuretics (water pills) — yellow dock can theoretically increase the risk of low potassium (hypokalemia) when used long-term or in larger amounts, especially if you're already taking a diuretic that depletes potassium.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Digoxin (Lanoxin), a heart medication, carries a Major severity interaction for the same reason: low potassium from yellow dock can increase the toxic effects of digoxin in your blood. Warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thinner, has a Moderate interaction — the laxative effect of yellow dock can increase diarrhea, which may raise your bleeding risk and change how warfarin works in your body.
