This combination comes in several forms — including oral solutions, capsules, regular tablets, and extended-release tablets — all taken by mouth. Extended-release tablets (such as Amazon Basic Care Mucus DM, Berkley and Jensen Mucus Relief DM, Cough And Congestion Extended Release, and Equaline Mucus DM) are generally taken every 12 hours and must be swallowed whole — do not crush, chew, or break them. They can be taken with or without food, but always take them with a full glass of water.
