Clinical
Acetaminophen is used to relieve mild to moderate pain and to reduce fever. Acetaminophen is in a class of medications called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). It works by changing the way the body senses pain and by cooling the body.
Read the full MedlinePlus article ↗This kit contains daytime and nighttime formulations sold as an over-the-counter monograph product for cold and flu symptom relief. The daytime formula typically includes acetaminophen (a pain reliever and fever reducer), dextromethorphan (a cough suppressant), guaifenesin (an expectorant to help thin mucus), and phenylephrine (a decongestant). The nighttime formula replaces the decongestant with doxylamine, a sleep aid, to support rest while addressing similar symptoms. These products are formulated to address multiple cold and flu symptoms at once.
