Clinical
This is an over-the-counter topical cream marketed under FDA's monograph rules for oral pain relief. It contains benzocaine, a local anesthetic typically used to numb minor mouth and gum pain, along with menthol, which is commonly included for a cooling sensation. Benzalkonium chloride functions as an antimicrobial agent, and zinc chloride is included as an astringent. The product is applied directly to the affected area of the mouth or gums.
