Concomitant use of finerenone, a CYP3A4 substrate, with itraconazole, a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor, increased finerenone AUC by greater than 400%. Increased finerenone exposure may increase the risk of finerenone adverse reactions. The use of finerenone with a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor is contraindicated.

Ketoconazole Overview

Ketoconazole is used to treat fungal infections when other medications are not available or cannot be tolerated. Ketoconazole should not be used to treat fungal meningitis (infection of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord caused by a fungus) or fungal nail infections. Ketoconazole is in a class of antifungals called imidazoles. It works by slowing the growth of fungi that cause infection.
Finerenone Overview

Finerenone is used to treat adults with chronic kidney disease (damage to the kidneys which may worsen over time and may cause the kidneys to stop working) due to type 2 diabetes. This treatment may reduce the risk of worsening kidney disease, needing to be hospitalized for heart failure, and life-threatening heart and blood vessel disease or a heart attack. Finerenone is in a class of medications called mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) antagonists. It works by blocking the activity of certain steroids made in the body that can damage the heart and kidneys.
