Drug & supplement interaction

1-androsterone + Rosuvastatin

Rosuvastatin brand names: Crestor, Ezallor.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between 1-androsterone and Rosuvastatin in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

1-androsterone and Rosuvastatin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Rosuvastatin and 1-androsterone in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Rosuvastatin

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Rosuvastatin is filed under 4 classifications — including hmg-coa reductase inhibitors ("statins"), hepatotoxic drugs, oral drugs. 1-androsterone has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being testosterone (moderate) — and none of Rosuvastatin’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests 1-androsterone and Rosuvastatin May Share Several of the Same Side Effects

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so taking both can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do. 2 of them are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

    1-androsterone

“Significant increases in serum creatinine of around 0.2 mg/dL and significant decreases in GFR of around 16.4 mL/min/1.72m2 have been reported in patients taking 1-androsterone for 4 weeks. Serum creatinine remained within normal range despite the elevation, GFR dropped below 89 mL/min/1.72m2, which is suggestive of renal impairment.”

Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 223,851 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Rosuvastatin that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. From our pharmacist’s overview on the Rosuvastatin page

“Rosuvastatin (Crestor, Ezallor) is a statin taken daily for years to lower cholesterol, and its supplement list deserves real scrutiny, not a quick skim. Five of the 63 ingredients on file carry a major rating, headed by grapefruit, which can raise statin blood levels, and by heavy drinking, since beer and wine compound the strain this…”

About 1-androsterone

What is 1-androsterone?

1-androsterone
  • Muscle building
  • Increasing strength
  • Athletic performance
  • Body recomposition

1-Androsterone (1-DHEA or 1-Andro) is a synthetic prohormone marketed to bodybuilders for muscle and strength gains, but it has not been proven safe or effective in quality human studies. It can affect hormones and may harm the liver and other organs, so most pharmacists would recommend avoiding it.

Synthetic compound (not a plant part) · Capsules, tablets, sometimes combined with other prohormones

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether 1-androsterone is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our 1-androsterone record says about it on its own.

1-androsterone: dosing

There is no established safe or standard dose for 1-androsterone, and no medical guideline supports its use. Products vary widely in strength and ingredients.Because of the health risks involved, the safest choice for most people is not to use it at all. Never combine it with other prohormones or hormone products.

About Rosuvastatin

What Is Rosuvastatin Used For?

Brand names: Crestor, Ezallor

Rosuvastatin tablets are used alongside diet changes to lower LDL-C ("bad" cholesterol), total cholesterol, and triglycerides (blood fats), and to raise HDL-C ("good" cholesterol) in adults with high cholesterol or mixed cholesterol problems. They are also used in adults with very high triglycerides, a condition called primary dysbetalipoproteinemia (Type III, a genetic fat-metabolism disorder), and to slow the buildup of plaque in arteries (atherosclerosis).

In people without established heart disease but with multiple risk factors, rosuvastatin tablets can reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and procedures to open blocked arteries. For children and teens aged 8 and older with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH, an inherited high-cholesterol condition), the tablet form is used to lower LDL-C after diet alone has not worked. Crestor tablets are also approved to treat homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH, a more severe inherited form) in adults and in children aged 7 and older.
