Dextroamphetamine falls under Topical Drugs — the group Alchemilla interacts with.

While no side effects have been reported from orally using Alchemilla, a clinical study titled "Treatment of Aphthous Stomatitis with Topical Alchemilla vulgaris in Glycerine," published in Clinical Drug Investigation (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17163290/), found that local mouth irritation occurred after applying a commercial product containing 3% alchemilla extract and glycerol (Aphtarine, Laboratoires Biosphere). Aphtarine was non-irritating in 68.2% of cases within 2-3 days, in 18.8% of cases within 4-7 days, and in 13.6% of cases with moderate irritation. Theoretically, combining Alchemilla with other potentially irritating topical products could increase the risk of local irritation and discomfort. The drug in this drug interaction monograph is available in a topical dosage form. There is no interaction expected from the oral dosage form of the drug.

Here's the good news: this isn't really a body-wide interaction at all. It's strictly a skin contact issue. The only version of dextroamphetamine that this applies to is Xelstrym, the patch you stick on your skin. Alchemilla is rich in tannins, which can be a little drying and irritating to skin and tissue, so if you apply an Alchemilla product to the same patch of skin, you might get more redness, itching, or irritation where they overlap.

This has nothing to do with how dextroamphetamine works in your brain. It won't change your focus, energy, appetite, or heart rate effects. If you take the pills or capsules, there's no expected interaction at all. Easy fix: keep any Alchemilla cream away from where your patch goes, and ask your pharmacist if you notice skin irritation.

What Is Dextroamphetamine Used For?

Brand name: Dexedrine

Dextroamphetamine treats two conditions: ADHD and narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness). It is available in multiple forms — tablets, extended-release capsules, oral solution, and a skin patch — and the approved age ranges vary by product.

Oral tablets (Zenzedi, generic) and oral solutions (Procentra, generic) are approved for ADHD in children as young as 3 years old and for narcolepsy. Extended-release capsules (Dexedrine, generic) are approved for ADHD in children ages 6 to 16 and for narcolepsy. Xelstrym, the transdermal patch, is approved only for ADHD — in adults and children ages 6 and older — and is not indicated for narcolepsy.
