Bisoprolol, Hydrochlorothiazide falls under Antihypertensive Drugs — the group American Mistletoe interacts with.

American mistletoe contains phoratoxin, a compound toxic to humans that induces smooth muscle contraction and vasoconstriction, potentially increasing blood pressure and heart rate. Case reports of cardiotoxicity have been documented with American mistletoe, and it should not be used with antihypertensive drugs or by individuals with cardiac conditions. American mistletoe is uncommon in dietary supplements, and formulations containing it are generally homeopathic. European mistletoe, which lacks phoratoxin, is more commonly used.

Your Ziac combines bisoprolol (a beta-blocker that slows the heart and relaxes blood vessels) with hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill). Both work to bring your blood pressure down. American mistletoe pulls in the opposite direction. It contains a toxin called phoratoxin that can tighten blood vessels and stir up the heart, which may push blood pressure and heart rate back up. In short, the plant can work against the very medicine you take to stay controlled.

There are real case reports of heart problems with American mistletoe, so this is taken seriously even though the evidence isn't huge. The good news: it's rarely found in supplements. Please don't take it alongside your Ziac, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before trying any mistletoe product.
