Tadalafil falls under Vasodilators — the group American Mistletoe interacts with.

American mistletoe contains phoratoxin, a compound toxic to humans that induces smooth muscle contraction and vasoconstriction, potentially increasing blood pressure and heart rate. Taking dietary supplements containing American mistletoe may counteract the effects of vasodilator drugs, such as hydralazine. It is important to note that American mistletoe is uncommon in dietary supplements. More commonly, European mistletoe is used as it does not contain phoratoxin.

Here's the gist for tadalafil (Cialis, Adcirca). Tadalafil works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, which improves blood flow. American mistletoe pulls in the opposite direction: its phoratoxins can tighten blood vessels and may nudge blood pressure and heart rate upward. So taking the two together could blunt some of what tadalafil is trying to do, whether you're using it for ED, an enlarged prostate, or lung blood pressure.

Honestly, the bigger concern is that American mistletoe is simply toxic and we don't recommend it at all. The evidence here is on the weaker side and based largely on lab and animal work, but mistletoe poisoning is real. Please don't take it, and check in with your pharmacist or doctor if you have questions.

About Tadalafil

What Is Tadalafil Used For?

Brand names: Cialis, Tadliq

Tadalafil tablets (including Cialis and generic tadalafil) are used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH — an enlarged prostate), or both conditions together. When used with the drug finasteride to start BPH treatment, this combination is recommended for up to 26 weeks.

Adcirca, Alyq (tablets), and Tadliq (oral suspension) are indicated specifically for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH — high blood pressure in the lungs), to improve the ability to exercise.
