Here's the simple version: anise seed may gently lower your blood sugar on its own. One small study found fasting blood sugar dropped by about 36% with anise seed powder. Insulin already works hard to bring your sugar down, so stacking the two could push your numbers lower than you intended.

If that happens, you might notice classic low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) signs with NovoRapid: shakiness, sweating, a fast heartbeat, dizziness, or feeling foggy. The good news is this concern comes mainly from concentrated anise (seed powder or extracts), not an occasional cup of anise tea or a pinch as seasoning. Please don't change your insulin on your own. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up and keep an eye on your readings if you add anise regularly.
