Here's the simple version: Vildagliptin (Galvus) already works to lower your blood sugar, and anise may nudge it down a little further. In one small study, anise seed powder dropped fasting blood sugar by about 36% compared to where people started. Anise isn't changing how your body breaks down vildagliptin, it's just adding its own mild sugar-lowering push on top.

Stacked together, the worry is your sugar dipping too low. Watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or feeling confused. A little anise in food or as an occasional tea is unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated anise supplements taken daily are where I'd pay closer attention. If you want to use them regularly, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.
