Mavacamten falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Astaxanthin interacts with.

Theoretically, astaxanthin may decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that astaxanthin induces CYP3A4 enzyme activity in human hepatocytes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Camzyos (mavacamten), the heart medicine used for obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Your liver clears this drug largely through an enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dish studies, astaxanthin seemed to speed up that enzyme, which in theory could clear mavacamten a little faster and lower its levels. Mavacamten is not a prodrug, so faster clearance would mean a weaker effect, meaning your symptoms like shortness of breath or chest tightness might not be as well controlled.

Now, the reassuring part: this is only test-tube data and has never been seen in real people, so it may not matter at all. Mavacamten is carefully dose-adjusted, though, so before adding astaxanthin, just check with your cardiologist or pharmacist.
