None of the listed interactions are rated major, and the large majority are minor, with the rest falling in the moderate range.
The interaction with the most direct human evidence involves caffeine. A small study in healthy women found that genistein taken daily for two weeks slowed the body's ability to clear caffeine, likely because it inhibits an enzyme the liver uses to break caffeine down. In practice, this could make caffeine's effects, such as jitteriness or trouble sleeping, feel stronger or last longer. There is also weaker, animal-only evidence that GCP may affect medications cleared by the CYP2C9 enzyme, so a little extra caution is reasonable there.
A long list of interactions does not mean each combination is harmful. Most entries here are minor and rest on lab or animal findings about how GCP might affect the enzymes that process medications, rather than on proven problems in people. These theoretical effects have not been shown to cause meaningful changes for most medicines.

Caffeine
Theoretically, genistein combined polysaccharide might reduce the clearance of caffeine.
Taking genistein 1 gram daily for 14 days seems to inhibit caffeine clearance and metabolism in healthy females. This effect has been attributed to inhibition of the cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) enzyme, which is involved in caffeine metabolism.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates

Overview
Genistein Combined Polysaccharide, often called GCP, is a dietary supplement made by combining a soybean extract with polysaccharides (a type of complex sugar) produced by certain mushrooms known as basidiomycetes. The soy part supplies genistein, a plant compound called an isoflavone that behaves somewhat like the hormone estrogen in the body.
The mushroom fermentation step is thought to change the genistein into a form the body may absorb more easily. GCP is sold mostly as capsules or tablets and is marketed largely toward people interested in supporting health during hormone-related cancers, such as prostate cancer.
It is important to understand that GCP is a manufactured supplement blend, not a traditional herb with a long history of use. Most of what is known about it comes from laboratory and early human studies.
How it works
The genistein in GCP is a phytoestrogen, meaning it can attach to estrogen receptors and produce weak estrogen-like or estrogen-blocking effects depending on the tissue. Researchers have proposed that genistein may slow the growth of certain cancer cells, encourage damaged cells to self-destruct (a process called apoptosis), and reduce the formation of new blood vessels that tumors need to grow.
The mushroom polysaccharides are believed to support immune activity and may help the body absorb the genistein in a more usable form. Some lab studies also suggest anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
It is important to remember that most of these mechanisms come from test-tube and animal research. What happens in a lab dish does not always happen the same way in the human body.

Safety & precautions
Because GCP contains a phytoestrogen, anyone with a hormone-sensitive condition—such as breast, uterine, or ovarian cancer, endometriosis, or uterine fibroids—should be especially cautious and talk with their doctor before using it.
People being treated for cancer should always involve their oncology team, since supplements can interfere with treatment plans or testing. People with soy allergies should avoid GCP because it is soy-derived.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, GCP should be avoided. Its estrogen-like activity and the lack of safety data make it an unnecessary risk during these times. Children should not use it. When in doubt, check with a pharmacist or physician first.
Side effects
GCP has not been studied enough to fully describe its side effects. Based on soy and isoflavone products in general, possible effects may include digestive upset, bloating, gas, or mild stomach discomfort.
Because genistein acts like estrogen, hormone-related effects are theoretically possible. Allergic reactions are possible in people sensitive to soy or mushrooms; stop use and seek care if you notice rash, itching, swelling, or trouble breathing.
Since long-term safety is not well established, report any new or unusual symptoms to your healthcare provider.
