Niraparib, Abiraterone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Astaxanthin interacts with.

Theoretically, astaxanthin may decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that astaxanthin induces CYP3A4 enzyme activity in human hepatocytes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Akeega is a combo pill of two cancer medicines. The abiraterone part relies partly on the liver enzyme CYP3A4, and lab studies hint that astaxanthin might speed up that enzyme. If that happened in real life, your body could clear the medicine a bit faster, which in theory could mean less of it working against the prostate cancer. That is the last thing you want with a treatment this important.

Here is the honest part: this is based only on cell studies, not on people, so we truly do not know if it matters in the body. Still, because these are serious cancer drugs, I would not gamble. Please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding astaxanthin so nothing weakens your treatment.
