Nirogacestat falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Astaxanthin interacts with.

Theoretically, astaxanthin may decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that astaxanthin induces CYP3A4 enzyme activity in human hepatocytes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the short version: Nirogacestat (Ogsiveo) is a cancer medicine that your body clears using an enzyme called CYP3A4. It's an active drug, not a prodrug, so it works as-is once you take it. In lab dish studies, astaxanthin seemed to speed up that same enzyme. If that were to happen in people, your body could break down nirogacestat a little faster, which in theory might lower its levels and make it work less well against your desmoid tumor.

Now the important caveat: this is only test-tube data, and it has never been shown to actually happen in humans. So I wouldn't panic. But since nirogacestat is a serious cancer therapy, please run any astaxanthin supplement past your oncology team before starting it.

Brand name: Ogsiveo

Ogsiveo (nirogacestat) is used to treat adults with desmoid tumors that are growing or progressing and require systemic (whole-body) treatment. Desmoid tumors are rare, locally aggressive growths that arise from connective tissue.

This indication is specific to Ogsiveo tablets taken by mouth. It is not approved for use in children, as safety and effectiveness have not been established in pediatric patients.
