COLCHICINE
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: Autumn Crocus is the plant that colchicine actually comes from. So if you're taking ColBenemid (which contains colchicine along with probenecid) and you also take Autumn Crocus, you're basically doubling up on the same drug. That means more colchicine in your body than your doctor intended.
Why that matters: colchicine has a narrow safety window, so even a little extra can cause real trouble. Think severe diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and muscle weakness, and in serious cases it can affect your blood cells. This warning is based on pharmacology rather than reported cases, but the logic is solid. Please don't take any Autumn Crocus product alongside your colchicine, and check with your pharmacist or doctor if you have questions.
