Methenamine, Sodium Biphosphate falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Bifidobacterium Animalis Subsp. Lactis interacts with.

Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium lactis with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. lactis.
Since B. lactis preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. lactis preparations by at least 2 hours.

Here's a friendly heads-up about pairing your probiotic with Uro-Phosphate (methenamine and sodium biphosphate). Methenamine works in an acidic urine environment by forming formaldehyde, which keeps bacteria from growing in the urinary tract. The concern here isn't really about your medicine being affected. It's the other way around: any antibiotic-like product can kill off some of the live B. lactis bacteria in your probiotic, making the probiotic work less well.

The good news is this is mostly theoretical, and it's easy to manage. A simple fix is to space them out, taking your probiotic and your methenamine at least 2 hours apart. Your methenamine will still do its job. If you have questions, your pharmacist can help you set up a schedule.
