Black Pepper has a moderate interaction with danicopan. Theoretically, black pepper might increase levels of P-glycoprotein substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to danicopan
danicopan falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Black Pepper interacts with.
In vitro research shows that piperine, a constituent of black pepper, seems to inhibit P-glycoprotein.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version for danicopan (Voydeya), which is used as an add-on treatment for certain people with a rare blood condition called PNH. Danicopan is moved around your body partly by a gut transporter called P-glycoprotein. The piperine in black pepper can slow that transporter down, at least in lab studies. In theory, that could let a bit more danicopan stay in your system, which might make side effects like headache, nausea, or feeling extra tired a little more likely.
I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. Right now it's based only on test-tube work, not real people, and normal food seasoning almost certainly won't matter. The bigger question mark is concentrated piperine supplements. If you take one, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.

About Black Pepper
What is Black Pepper?
- Flavoring and culinary use
- Digestive complaints like bloating and indigestion
- Boosting absorption of other supplements
- Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory support
- Cold and congestion remedies
Black pepper is a common kitchen spice that is generally safe in the amounts used in food. Its extract, piperine, is mostly added to supplements to help the body absorb other ingredients (like curcumin from turmeric). Strong human evidence for black pepper treating specific health conditions is limited, so use supplement-strength products with care and check with your pharmacist.
