Blackberry and Digoxin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Digoxin and Blackberry in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Blackberry at all — not against Digoxin, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Blackberry safety at a glance

Blackberry overall Generally safe The fruit is safe as a food; medicinal leaf and root preparations are likely safe in typical amounts but less studied.
Pregnancy Use caution The berry as food is fine, but concentrated leaf or root supplements lack safety data, so use caution.
Breastfeeding Use caution Eating the fruit is fine, but there is not enough information on medicinal supplements while nursing.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

Knowing the drug’s own list makes it easier to work out the likely cause if something new turns up while you take both. 7 of them are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • A slow heartbeat Worth acting on
  • Hallucinations Worth acting on
  • Heart failure Worth acting on
  • An irregular heartbeat Worth acting on
  • Confusion Worth acting on
  • Low mood Worth acting on

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Digoxin. Read the label on DailyMed › Blackberry’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Blackberry side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Blackberry has no side effects.

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Digoxin

This page covers Blackberry only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Digoxin page lists 113 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Digoxin page

“Digoxin is a heart medicine with a narrow therapeutic index, meaning the gap between a helpful blood level and a harmful one is small, and few drugs give me more pause when supplements enter the picture. The most serious entries here are herbs that themselves contain digoxin-like cardiac glycosides, foxglove and lily-of-the-valley amon…”

Where does our data come from?
  • Source: the Natural Medicines (TRC Healthcare) clinical database — the evidence-graded professional reference for herb & supplement interactions. Blackberry is not yet covered by that licensed database, so its write-up cites publicly available medical sources directly (see the references below).
  • Citation library: 103,510 references behind our interaction content, 65,311 of them resolved to verified PubMed/DOI sources. See every Blackberry reference on this page ↓
  • Freshness: we automatically re-check this combination every week — this pair was last verified October 4, 2026. The Blackberry and Digoxin records this page draws on were last updated June 22, 2026.
  • What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.

About Blackberry

What is Blackberry?

  • Diarrhea
  • Sore throat and mouth rinse
  • General antioxidant support
  • Digestive upset
  • Source of vitamins and fiber

Blackberry is a common edible berry that is safe and nutritious as a food, rich in vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidant plant compounds. The leaves and root have a long history of traditional use for diarrhea and sore throat, but high-quality human studies on these medicinal uses are limited. Enjoy the fruit freely, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated leaf or root supplements.

Rubus fruticosus · Rosaceae · Fruit, leaves, and root · Fresh or frozen fruit, juice, tea (from dried leaves), capsules, extracts

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Blackberry is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Blackberry record says about it on its own.

Blackberry: dosing

There is no official standardized dose for blackberry as a supplement. As a food, blackberries can be eaten freely as part of a balanced diet. For leaf teas or extracts, traditional use varies and a reliable evidence-based dose has not been established. If you choose to use a blackberry supplement, follow the directions on the product label and do not exceed the recommended amount.

About Digoxin

What Is Digoxin Used For?

Brand names: Lanoxicaps, Lanoxin, Digitek

Digoxin treats mild to moderate heart failure in adults. It improves heart failure symptoms and exercise capacity, and it reduces heart failure-related hospitalizations and emergency care. It does not change survival.

It also helps control the resting heart rate in adults with chronic atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat). In children with heart failure, the tablet, oral solution and most injection products are used to increase the heart’s pumping strength (myocardial contractility). Some older injection labels list only the adult uses. Digoxin Oral Solution should not be used for multifocal atrial tachycardia.
