Alogliptin, Pioglitazone falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Blue-green Algae interacts with.

Theoretically, taking blue-green algae with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Human research shows that spirulina blue-green algae can have hypoglycemic effects in patients with diabetes, at least some of whom were using antidiabetes drugs. However, blue-green algae does not seem to improve glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels in patients with diabetes. A meta-analysis of animal studies also suggests that spirulina blue-green algae have hypoglycemic effects.

Oseni combines two diabetes medicines, alogliptin and pioglitazone, that both work to lower your blood sugar. Here's the thing about blue-green algae like spirulina: some human studies suggest it may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. When you stack that on top of your medication, the two together could push your glucose lower than you intend.

This isn't a strong or certain interaction, and the evidence is fairly limited, so don't panic. But it's worth watching for signs of low blood sugar, such as shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or confusion. If you'd like to try blue-green algae, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can help you keep an eye on your readings.
