Cabbage Soup Diet and Rifapentine

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Rifapentine and Cabbage Soup Diet in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Cabbage Soup Diet alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Cabbage Soup Diet at all — not against Rifapentine, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Cabbage Soup Diet is an eating pattern rather than something you take. Ask your pharmacist or doctor before changing how you eat while on a prescribed medicine: some medicines are dosed around meals, and a change in diet can change how they work. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Rifapentine page

“Rifapentine (Priftin) treats tuberculosis and is often dosed just once or twice a week, so a single blunted dose costs more than it would with a daily pill. That is why I read this list of 64 interacting supplements as a real warning rather than routine fine print.”

About Cabbage Soup Diet

What is Cabbage Soup Diet?

  • Rapid short-term weight loss
  • Quick jump-start before an event
  • Detox or cleanse beliefs
  • Kickstarting a longer diet

The Cabbage Soup Diet is a very low-calorie, 7-day fad diet built around eating large amounts of a cabbage-based soup. It may cause quick water and weight loss, but the loss is usually temporary, the diet is not nutritionally balanced, and most people regain the weight. It is not a healthy long-term plan, and people should talk to a doctor or pharmacist before trying it.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Cabbage Soup Diet is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Cabbage Soup Diet record says about it on its own.

Cabbage Soup Diet: dosing

There is no official or standardized version of the Cabbage Soup Diet. Most plans last about 7 days, with unlimited cabbage soup plus a short list of allowed foods that changes each day.Because the diet is not nutritionally balanced, experts advise against following it longer than a week or repeating it back-to-back.
