Aclidinium Bromide falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Calamus interacts with.

Here's the simple version. Your inhaler, Tudorza Pressair (aclidinium), is an anticholinergic. It helps you breathe easier in COPD by blocking a body chemical called acetylcholine, which relaxes and opens up the airways. Calamus seems to push in the opposite direction. In lab dish studies, it blocks the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine, so more of that chemical hangs around. That could partly work against what your inhaler is trying to do, possibly making it feel a little less effective, with more wheezing or shortness of breath.

I want to be honest about how shaky this is. This concern comes only from test-tube research, not from people, so we really don't know if it matters in real life. On top of that, calamus contains beta-asarone, which the FDA banned from foods over safety worries, so I'd lean away from it regardless. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing the two.

Calamus is a swamp plant with a long history in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine, mostly for digestive and nervous-system complaints. However, it contains beta-asarone, a compound linked to cancer and other toxic effects in animal studies, which is why the U.S. FDA banned it from foods. Because of these safety concerns and a lack of solid human evidence, it is generally best avoided.
