Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Acetaminophen, Pentazocine
Acetaminophen, Pentazocine falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Caraway interacts with.
Animal research suggests that (S)-(+)-carvone, a major constituent of caraway seed extract, has sedative effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Talacen pairs acetaminophen with pentazocine, an opioid pain reliever that already tends to make people feel drowsy, foggy, or lightheaded. The concern here is the pentazocine half. There's a thought that caraway, thanks to a compound called carvone, may have mild calming effects of its own, so layering it on top of an opioid could in theory leave you more sedated than usual.
I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It comes from animal studies, not people, and it's a theoretical concern, not something we see commonly. Normal cooking amounts of caraway are very unlikely to matter. Concentrated caraway oil or supplements are where I'd be a little more thoughtful. If you take both, just watch for extra drowsiness and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

- Irritable bowel symptoms
- Increasing breast milk (traditional)
Caraway is a common cooking spice that has long been used to ease gas, bloating, and indigestion.
