Here's the gist with caraway and your Depakote (divalproex sodium). Divalproex already calms brain activity, and it can leave some folks feeling drowsy or a little foggy. Caraway, specifically a compound in it called carvone, has shown mild sedative effects in animal studies. So the idea is that the two together might add up and make you a bit more tired or slowed down than usual.

I want to be honest though: this is purely theoretical, based on how things work in a lab rather than real patient reports. Using caraway as a kitchen spice is very unlikely to cause any trouble. Concentrated caraway oil or supplements are where I'd be more careful. If you go that route, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first and watch for extra drowsiness.
