Janumet combines two diabetes medicines, metformin and sitagliptin, that work to lower your blood sugar. Here's the idea behind this interaction: some early research hints that carnosine may nudge fasting blood sugar down a little on its own. If you add that small effect on top of medicines already lowering your sugar, the two could stack and push you a bit too low.

I want to be honest that this is theoretical, based on how carnosine might behave rather than solid proof in people taking Janumet. Still, it's worth watching for signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or confusion. If you'd like to try carnosine, check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your glucose readings when you start.

Carnosine is a naturally occurring dipeptide (made of beta-alanine and histidine) that acts as an antioxidant and buffer in muscle and brain. It is sold as an anti-aging and performance supplement, but human evidence for most uses is limited, and many studies actually use beta-alanine, its precursor.
