Carnosine + Semaglutide
Semaglutide brand names: Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy.
Carnosine has a moderate interaction with Semaglutide. Theoretically, taking carnosine with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Semaglutide
Semaglutide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Carnosine interacts with.
Some, but not all, preliminary clinical research shows that carnosine might reduce fasting blood glucose levels.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: Semaglutide already works to lower your blood sugar by nudging your pancreas to release insulin when sugar runs high. Some early research hints that carnosine may modestly lower fasting blood sugar on its own. Stack the two together and, in theory, your numbers could dip a little lower than expected.
I want to be honest about the evidence though, this is mostly a theoretical concern based on how these work, not strong human proof. Carnosine isn't broken down by the same pathways that handle semaglutide, so this isn't about one clearing the other. Still, it's worth keeping an eye out for low blood sugar signs like shakiness, sweating, or feeling lightheaded. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding carnosine, and keep monitoring your levels.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Semaglutide page
“Semaglutide (Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy) lowers blood sugar, and so do most of the 256 supplements on this page, which is why I read this list with real vigilance rather than a shrug. Nearly all of the entries either add to its glucose-lowering effect and raise the risk of hypoglycemia, or push sugar the other way and blunt it, as niaci…”

About Carnosine
What is Carnosine?
- Anti-aging and general wellness
- Exercise performance and muscle support
- Brain and cognitive health
- Eye health (cataracts, with N-acetylcarnosine drops)
- Antioxidant support
Carnosine is a naturally occurring dipeptide (made of beta-alanine and histidine) that acts as an antioxidant and buffer in muscle and brain. It is sold as an anti-aging and performance supplement, but human evidence for most uses is limited, and many studies actually use beta-alanine, its precursor. It appears generally well tolerated at common doses, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.
About Semaglutide
What Is Semaglutide Used For?
Brand names: Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy
Semaglutide is used for several conditions, depending on the product. Wegovy is used with a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity to reduce excess body weight and keep it off long term. It is also used to lower the risk of major cardiovascular events (heart-related death, non-fatal heart attack, or non-fatal stroke) in adults with established cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight.
Wegovy injection is also used for adults with noncirrhotic MASH (a fatty liver disease) with moderate to advanced liver scarring, and for weight management in children 12 and older with obesity. Ozempic is an injection used with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It also lowers the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease. Ozempic is not for type 1 diabetes.

Semaglutide Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Semaglutide as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Carnosine — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
