Cat's claw contains rhynchophylline and isorhynchophylline. Animal research suggests that these alkaloids can inhibit platelet aggregation. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Tinzaparin (Innohep) is a low molecular weight heparin, a blood thinner you inject to prevent and treat clots. The concern with cat's claw is simple to picture: in lab and animal studies, two of its compounds (rhynchophylline and isorhynchophylline) seemed to make platelets less sticky. Since tinzaparin already lowers your blood's ability to clot, stacking cat's claw on top could, in theory, nudge your bleeding risk a little higher.

Keep this in perspective. This interaction is theoretical and has not been reported in people, so the evidence is weak. Still, watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or pink urine. Before adding any cat's claw supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
