Here's the concern with pairing chaparral and Besremi (ropeginterferon alfa-2b). This isn't about one changing how the other is broken down. Instead, it's about a doubling-up of stress on your liver. Besremi can raise liver enzymes and, in some people, cause more serious liver problems, so it's already something your doctor watches closely with regular bloodwork. Chaparral has been tied to real and sometimes lasting liver damage on its own.

Put them together and you may be stacking two liver risks at once. I'd honestly steer clear of chaparral altogether given its safety record. Watch for yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before adding any supplement.

What Is Ropeginterferon alfa-2b Used For?

Brand name: Besremi

BESREMi (ropeginterferon alfa-2b) is used to treat two conditions in adults: polycythemia vera, a bone marrow disorder where the body makes too many red blood cells, and essential thrombocythemia, a condition where the bone marrow makes too many platelets.

Both conditions are given as subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injections of BESREMi, including the BESREMi Pen delivery option.
