Chaparral + Fenofibrate
Fenofibrate brand names: Tricor, Fenofibrate, Lipidil Micro, Lipidil Supra, Antara, and others.
Chaparral has a moderate interaction with Fenofibrate. Theoretically, chaparral might have additive adverse effects on the liver when used with hepatotoxic drugs.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Fenofibrate
Fenofibrate falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Chaparral interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: this isn't about chaparral changing how much fenofibrate gets into your system. It's about both being tough on the same organ, your liver. Fenofibrate already carries a small risk of irritating the liver, which is why doctors often check liver enzymes with blood tests while you take it. Chaparral has been tied to serious, sometimes lasting liver damage. Stack the two together and you could be doubling up the stress on that organ.
To be honest, the evidence here is mostly theoretical and based on scattered case reports, so I'm not trying to scare you. But given chaparral's bad track record, I'd steer clear of it altogether. Watch for yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual fatigue, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Fenofibrate page
“Fenofibrate (Tricor, Antara) is a cholesterol and triglyceride medicine that can strain the liver on its own, so this list of 59 supplements deserves genuine care rather than a shrug. Most of it, 38 ingredients, involves herbs that also stress the liver, ashwagandha among them, and stacking those effects is the risk that matters most h…”

About Chaparral
What is Chaparral?
- Pain and inflammation
- Skin conditions
- Antioxidant/general wellness
- Infections
- Traditional 'detox' remedies
Chaparral is a desert shrub long used in traditional medicine, but there is no reliable proof it treats any condition. It has been linked to serious and sometimes irreversible liver and kidney damage, and the FDA has warned against using it. Because of these safety concerns, we recommend avoiding chaparral.
About Fenofibrate
What Is Fenofibrate Used For?
Brand names: Tricor, Fenofibrate, Lipidil Micro, Lipidil Supra, Antara, Lofibra, Triglide, Lipidil EZ
Fenofibrate is used along with diet to improve blood fats in adults. Tricor and the fenofibrate tablets are used to lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, total cholesterol, triglycerides and apolipoprotein B, and to raise HDL (“good”) cholesterol in primary hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol not caused by another condition) or mixed dyslipidemia. They are also used for severe hypertriglyceridemia (very high triglycerides).
Antara and Lipofen capsules are used to lower triglycerides in adults with severe hypertriglyceridemia (500 mg/dL or higher). They are also used to lower LDL cholesterol in primary hyperlipidemia (high blood fats not caused by another condition) when the recommended LDL-lowering therapy is not possible. Fenofibrate did not reduce heart disease complications or death in people with type 2 diabetes in large trials.
