Here's the simple version: both fenofibrate and concentrated green tea extract are processed by your liver, and each one can occasionally stress it. Fenofibrate itself can raise liver enzymes in some people, and high-dose green tea extract has been tied to rare cases of liver injury. Put them together and there's a theoretical chance the liver strain could add up.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It's based on a few anecdotal reports, not solid studies, and it's considered unlikely. Drinking green tea as a normal beverage almost certainly won't be a problem. The concern is really about concentrated extract capsules. Watch for things like yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a green tea supplement.

Concentrated green tea extracts are a different story—they may help modestly with weight or heart health for some, but high doses have been linked to rare liver problems. About Fenofibrate

What Is Fenofibrate Used For?

Brand names: Tricor, Fenofibrate, Lipidil Micro, Lipidil Supra, Antara, Lofibra, Triglide, Lipidil EZ

Fenofibrate is used alongside a cholesterol-lowering diet in adults to improve abnormal lipid levels. Tricor (tablet) and fenofibrate tablets are indicated to lower LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), total cholesterol, triglycerides, and apolipoprotein B, and to raise HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) in adults with primary hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol) or mixed dyslipidemia (mixed abnormal lipid levels). They are also used to treat severe hypertriglyceridemia (very high triglycerides).

Antara and Lipofen (capsules) are indicated to reduce triglyceride levels in adults with severe hypertriglyceridemia, and to lower LDL cholesterol in adults with primary hyperlipidemia when other recommended LDL-lowering therapies cannot be used. Fenofibrate has not been shown to reduce heart attacks or cardiovascular deaths in patients with type 2 diabetes.
