Prednisone falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Green Tea interacts with.

Green tea might increase the levels and adverse effects of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) substrates.
In vitro research and case reports suggest that green tea inhibits drug efflux by P-gp, potentially increasing serum levels of P-gp substrates. Case reports from the World Health Organization (WHO) adverse drug reaction database describe increased toxicity in patients taking green tea and certain P-gp substrates.

Here's the gist with prednisone and green tea. Your body uses a kind of cellular pump called P-glycoprotein (P-gp) to move certain drugs around and shuttle them out. Green tea may slow that pump down a bit, which could let a little more prednisone hang around in your system than usual. In theory, that means slightly stronger steroid effects, things like trouble sleeping, mood swings, a bumped-up appetite, fluid retention, or higher blood sugar.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: it's pretty thin, mostly lab studies and a few scattered case reports, so a normal cup or two of green tea most likely won't cause trouble. Concentrated green tea extract pills are where I'd be more cautious. If you take prednisone regularly, just run your green tea habit past your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Prednisone also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.

Green tea is unlikely to produce clinically significant changes in the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro and in vivo research suggests that green tea can inhibit intestinal CYP3A and induce hepatic CYP3A4 enzymes. However, this effect is unlikely to be clinically significant, as green tea does not appear to affect CYP3A4 activity in humans.

Here's the good news: drinking green tea while you take prednisone is very unlikely to cause any real problem. Prednisone is partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and lab studies suggest green tea can nudge that enzyme in either direction. But in actual people, green tea hasn't been shown to meaningfully change how prednisone works.

So in practice, you shouldn't expect your usual cup or two of tea to weaken prednisone or to push up side effects like trouble sleeping, mood swings, or a higher appetite. If you're thinking about concentrated green tea extract pills rather than the beverage, just run that by your pharmacist or doctor first, mostly because high-dose extracts can stress the liver.
