Here's the concern with pairing chaparral and methyldopa. This isn't about the blood pressure effect changing or about one speeding up or slowing down the other. Instead, both can be hard on your liver. Methyldopa is already known to occasionally cause liver inflammation (hepatitis) in some people, and chaparral has been tied to serious, sometimes lasting, liver damage. Stacking two liver stressors together could add up.

To be fair, this is a theoretical, anecdote-based warning, not something proven in studies. Still, given chaparral's real safety record, I'd steer clear of it. Watch for yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual fatigue, and check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.
