Here's the thing to know about pairing turmeric with methyldopa. Methyldopa is one of those blood pressure medicines that can, in rare cases, irritate the liver on its own. Turmeric, especially in concentrated, high-dose supplements made for better absorption, has been linked in a handful of reports to liver trouble too. So the worry is simply that two things that can each stress the liver might add up.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. This is theoretical and based on scattered anecdotal reports, not strong studies, and the turmeric you sprinkle on food is very unlikely to cause a problem. If you take turmeric capsules, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor, and flag any yellowing skin, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness.
