Here's the concern with pairing turmeric and naltrexone: both can, in rare cases, be tough on the liver. Naltrexone already comes with liver warnings, especially at higher doses, and there have been scattered reports of turmeric (usually concentrated, high-absorption supplements taken in big amounts) causing liver irritation. Stacking two things that stress the liver could, in theory, add up.

I want to be honest with you though. This is based on anecdotal reports, not strong studies, so it's more of a caution than a red alert. The turmeric you sprinkle on food is very unlikely to be a problem. If you take curcumin capsules, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor. Signs like yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness are worth a prompt call.

What Is Naltrexone Used For?

Brand name: Revia

Naltrexone Hydrochloride tablets are used to treat alcohol dependence and to block the effects of opioids in people being treated for opioid dependence. It works best as part of a full treatment program that includes counseling and support.

The extended-release injectable suspension (brand name Vivitrol) is used to treat alcohol dependence in patients who are already not drinking before starting treatment, and to prevent relapse to opioid dependence after a patient has completed opioid detoxification. Vivitrol must always be part of a comprehensive treatment program that includes psychosocial support.
