Turmeric + Fludrocortisone
Fludrocortisone brand name: Florinef Acetate.
Turmeric has a minor interaction with Fludrocortisone. Theoretically, turmeric might increase the absorption of P-glycoprotein substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Fludrocortisone
Fludrocortisone falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Turmeric interacts with.
In vitro and animal research shows that curcuminoids and other constituents found in turmeric can inhibit P-glycoprotein expression and activity.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with turmeric and your fludrocortisone (Florinef). Turmeric's curcumin compounds may gently block a transporter called P-glycoprotein, which helps move certain drugs out of your gut and cells. Fludrocortisone is an active steroid (not a prodrug), so slowing that pump could, in theory, let a little more of it get absorbed and build up.
If that happened, you might notice more of fludrocortisone's usual effects, like fluid retention, swelling, higher blood pressure, or low potassium. That said, this is rated minor and rests only on lab and animal studies, not real people. Everyday cooking with turmeric is very unlikely to matter. Before starting a concentrated supplement, just check with your pharmacist or doctor.

About Turmeric
What is Turmeric?
- Joint pain and arthritis
- Inflammation
- Digestive upset
- Antioxidant support
- Skin conditions
Turmeric is a popular spice whose main active compounds, curcuminoids, are studied mostly for inflammation and joint pain. Some research is promising, but quality is mixed and curcumin is poorly absorbed on its own. For most people, dietary amounts are safe, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before taking concentrated supplements, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or have a medical condition.
