Methyldopa falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Camphor interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of camphor with other hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of liver damage.
There have been a few case reports of transient elevations in liver enzymes in adults after oral or topical use of camphor. There has also been one case of hepatotoxicity in an infant after topical camphor use.

Here's the connection: methyldopa is one of the blood pressure medicines that can occasionally stress the liver. In rare cases it can raise liver enzymes or cause liver inflammation, which is why your doctor may check bloodwork now and then. Camphor, especially if swallowed (which you should never do) but even sometimes with heavy topical use, has also been linked in a handful of reports to short-lived liver enzyme bumps.

So the worry is simply two things that can each be hard on the liver adding up. This is a theoretical concern based on how the two behave, not a proven, common problem. Normal rub-on use of a camphor product is unlikely to cause trouble for most people. Still, watch for yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before using camphor regularly.
