Ciprofloxacin falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Camphor interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of camphor with other hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of liver damage.
There have been a few case reports of transient elevations in liver enzymes in adults after oral or topical use of camphor. There has also been one case of hepatotoxicity in an infant after topical camphor use.

Here's the gist: both camphor and ciprofloxacin can, on rare occasions, put a little stress on your liver. Cipro (the antibiotic) is sometimes linked to bumps in liver enzymes, and there are a handful of reports where camphor did the same thing, even when rubbed on the skin. The worry is simply that stacking two things that may irritate the liver could, in theory, raise that risk a bit.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. This is a theoretical concern based on how these products behave, not a proven, common problem. For most people using a camphor rub for a few days while on Cipro, it's unlikely to cause trouble. Never swallow camphor, since that's genuinely toxic. If you notice yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, call your doctor or pharmacist.

Ciprofloxacin belongs to a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. It's prescribed to treat bacterial infections in many parts of the body — including the urinary tract, skin, lungs, bones, joints, and digestive system. It's also used to protect against or treat anthrax and plague after exposure.

Because ciprofloxacin carries real risks, it's reserved for milder conditions like sinus infections, simple bladder infections, and flare-ups of chronic bronchitis only when there are no safer alternatives available.
