Theoretically, concomitant use of camphor with other hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of liver damage.
There have been a few case reports of transient elevations in liver enzymes in adults after oral or topical use of camphor. There has also been one case of hepatotoxicity in an infant after topical camphor use.

Here's the connection worth knowing: amiodarone is already one of those heart medicines that can be tough on the liver, so doctors usually check your liver enzymes with regular blood tests while you're on it. Camphor, in a few scattered reports, has also been tied to temporary bumps in liver enzymes, even when rubbed on the skin. The worry is simply that stacking two things that can stress the liver might add up.

To be clear, this is a theoretical concern, not something proven to happen. The evidence is thin and based mostly on how these substances behave, not on solid studies. Used as directed on the skin in small amounts, camphor is unlikely to cause trouble, but please never swallow it. Just mention your camphor products to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your liver labs.

What Is Amiodarone Used For?

Amiodarone is prescribed for adults with serious, life-threatening heart-rhythm problems that haven't responded to other medications. Specifically, it's used for two dangerous arrhythmias (abnormal heartbeats): recurrent ventricular fibrillation (a chaotic, potentially fatal heart rhythm) and recurrent ventricular tachycardia (a dangerously fast heart rhythm that causes unstable blood pressure).

Because amiodarone comes with significant risks, doctors reserve it for situations where other options haven't worked or can't be tolerated. It is not a first-choice medication — it's a last-resort tool for serious, life-threatening conditions.
