sodium sulfacetamide, urea falls under TOPICAL DRUGS — the group Dimethylsulfoxide (dmso) interacts with.

Topical DMSO might increase the effects and adverse effects of topical drugs.
Evidence from animal studies and limited human studies suggests that DMSO may potentiate the action of numerous topical medications by increasing their absorption through the skin. This increase in absorption seems to depend on the concentration of DMSO and the molecular weight of the medication.

Here's the simple version: DMSO is famous for being a 'carrier' that helps other things soak through your skin more easily. So if you put DMSO on the same area where you're using your sodium sulfacetamide and urea product (Vanocin), it could push more of that medication into your skin than usual.

With this combo, more absorption mostly means a higher chance of local irritation, such as redness, stinging, burning, dryness, or peeling where you apply it. Sulfacetamide can also rarely trigger allergic skin reactions, and more getting through could raise that risk. The evidence here is real but limited, and it depends a lot on how concentrated the DMSO is. To be safe, don't layer them on the same spot without checking first. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor.
