Glyburide, Metformin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Eucalyptus interacts with.

Theoretically, eucalyptus might increase the levels of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that eucalyptus oil might inhibit CYP2C9, although this has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with Glucovance, which pairs glyburide and metformin. The glyburide half is cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. In test-tube studies, eucalyptus oil appears to slow that enzyme down a bit. If that held true in people, glyburide could linger longer and push your blood sugar lower than expected.

What that might feel like is low blood sugar (hypoglycemia): shakiness, sweating, a fast heartbeat, confusion, or feeling dizzy. I want to be honest though, this is only a theoretical concern from lab work, never shown in actual patients, so I wouldn't lose sleep over a vapor rub or a lozenge. If you're using concentrated eucalyptus or feel any low-sugar symptoms, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

Here's the gist: Glucovance combines two diabetes medicines (glyburide and metformin) that already work to lower your blood sugar. Some animal studies hint that eucalyptus leaf might also nudge blood sugar downward on its own. Put them together, and the worry is that the two effects could stack, pushing your sugar a little too low.

I want to be honest about the evidence here. This is based on lab and animal research, not solid human studies, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Sniffing a vapor rub or using a lozenge is very unlikely to matter. If you're taking concentrated eucalyptus leaf by mouth, watch for signs of low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion) and check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.
