Mobocertinib Succinate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Eucalyptus interacts with.

Theoretically, eucalyptus might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that eucalyptus oil might inhibit CYP3A4, although this has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for mobocertinib (Exkivity). Your body clears this cancer drug using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies hint that eucalyptus oil might slow that enzyme down a bit. If it did, mobocertinib could build up in your blood and push its effects too far. That matters because this drug already carries real risks, like heart rhythm changes (a longer QT interval), diarrhea that can get severe, nausea, mouth sores, and rash.

The good news: this is only a theoretical, test-tube finding that hasn't been seen in actual people, and inhaling vapor rubs or using a lozenge is very different from concentrated doses. Still, since mobocertinib is serious medicine, please run any eucalyptus product past your oncology team or pharmacist first.

  • Mobocertinib is used to treat a certain type of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that cannot be removed by surgery and has spread to other parts of the body either during or after treatment with platinum chemotherapy medications. Mobocertinib is in a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps stop or slow the spread of cancer cells and may help shrink tumors.
