Fluticasone Propionate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group False Unicorn interacts with.

In vitro, false unicorn extract inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity. Theoretically, false unicorn might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates. Drugs that might be affected include some calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, nicardipine, verapamil), chemotherapeutic agents (etoposide, paclitaxel, vinblastine, vincristine, vindesine), antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), glucocorticoids, cisapride (Propulsid), alfentanil (Alfenta), fentanyl (Sublimaze), losartan (Cozaar), fluoxetine (Prozac), midazolam (Versed), omeprazole (Prilosec), ondansetron (Zofran), propranolol (Inderal), fexofenadine (Allegra), and numerous others.

Here's the gist for fluticasone (whether you use the Flonase nasal spray, Xhance, or an inhaler). Your body clears this steroid using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In a lab dish, False Unicorn appeared to slow that enzyme down. In theory, slowing the cleanup could let a bit more fluticasone linger in your system, which can nudge up steroid-type side effects.

With nasal and inhaled fluticasone, the amount absorbed into the body is usually small, so this is unlikely to cause big problems for most people. Still, with higher or long-term steroid exposure you could see things like throat irritation, nosebleeds, or, rarely, broader steroid effects. Just so you know, this is only a test-tube finding, not proven in people. If you're considering False Unicorn, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
