Drug & supplement interaction

Fasting + Brentuximab Vedotin

Brentuximab Vedotin brand name: Adcetris.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Fasting and Brentuximab Vedotin in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Fasting and Brentuximab Vedotin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Brentuximab Vedotin and Fasting in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Fasting alongside specific medications may be limited.

Fasting is an eating pattern rather than something you take. Ask your pharmacist or doctor before changing how you eat while on a prescribed medicine: some medicines are dosed around meals, and a change in diet can change how they work. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Fasting safety at a glance

Fasting overall Use caution Often tolerated by healthy adults but can be risky for some people and medications.
Pregnancy Avoid Prolonged or strict fasting is generally discouraged during pregnancy without medical supervision.
Breastfeeding Use caution May affect hydration, energy, and possibly milk supply, so check with your provider first.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Brentuximab Vedotin

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Brentuximab Vedotin is filed under a single classification — cytochrome p450 3a4 (cyp3a4) substrates. Fasting has documented interactions with 4 drug classes — the most serious being warfarin (coumadin) (major), anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs (moderate) and antidiabetes drugs (moderate) — and none of Brentuximab Vedotin’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Fasting and Brentuximab Vedotin May Share Several of the Same Side Effects

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so following Fasting while taking the medicine can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do. One of them is worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

Reported for Fasting but not commonly for Brentuximab Vedotin: raised blood pressure, trouble sleeping, dizziness and blurred vision.

Effects for Brentuximab Vedotin come from the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of its FDA label; effects for Fasting come from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record, quoted above. Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 10,190 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Brentuximab Vedotin that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Wording is matched across sources by our own clinical vocabulary, so treat this as a prompt to pay attention, not a diagnosis.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Brentuximab Vedotin page

“Every entry on this page traces back to a single enzyme. Brentuximab vedotin (Adcetris), an IV treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma and certain other lymphomas, carries a chemotherapy payload the body clears through CYP3A4, and I would treat this list with real care.”

About Fasting

What is Fasting?

  • Weight loss
  • Blood sugar control
  • Heart health
  • Religious or spiritual practice
  • General wellness and longevity

Fasting means voluntarily going without food (and sometimes drink) for set periods. Some research suggests it may help with weight loss and blood sugar in certain people, but results vary and quality of evidence is mixed. It is not safe for everyone, so check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting—especially if you take medication or have a health condition.

Not applicable (a dietary practice, not a substance) · Time-restricted eating, alternate-day fasting, periodic multi-day fasts, intermittent fasting (e.g., 16:8 or 5:2), religious fasting

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Fasting is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Fasting record says about it on its own.

Fasting: dosing

There is no single "correct" fasting schedule, and no standardized dose. Popular approaches include daily time-restricted eating (such as a 16:8 pattern), the 5:2 plan, and alternate-day fasting. The best choice depends on your health, lifestyle, and goals. If you are new to fasting, it's wise to start gently—such as a slightly shorter eating window—and to drink plenty of water during fasting periods (unless your fast restricts fluids for religious reasons).

About Brentuximab Vedotin Injection

What Is Brentuximab Vedotin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Adcetris

Adcetris (brentuximab vedotin) is used to treat classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) in adults — including newly diagnosed advanced-stage disease, as consolidation therapy after a stem cell transplant, and in relapsed or refractory cases. It is also approved for pediatric patients aged 2 and older with previously untreated high-risk classical Hodgkin lymphoma, given in combination with chemotherapy.

Adcetris is also used for several T-cell lymphomas — including systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma (sALCL), peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCL), primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma (pcALCL), and CD30-expressing mycosis fungoides (MF). Additionally, Adcetris is used in combination with lenalidomide and a rituximab product for adults with relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) who are not candidates for a stem cell transplant or CAR T-cell therapy.
