Meloxicam falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Fo-ti interacts with.

Theoretically, fo-ti may increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that fo-ti may inhibit CYP2C9. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for these two. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to clear meloxicam out of your system. Lab and animal studies hint that fo-ti may slow that enzyme down. If that happened in people, meloxicam could linger longer and build up, which can mean stronger NSAID side effects like stomach upset, heartburn, fluid retention, higher blood pressure, or, with bigger or longer exposure, irritation of the stomach lining or kidney strain.

The honest part: this is theoretical, seen only in test tubes and animals, never confirmed in humans. So I wouldn't panic. Fo-ti has also been tied to liver injury on its own, so before you pair them, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor.

About Meloxicam

What Is Meloxicam Used For?

Brand names: Mobic, Vivlodex, Qmiiz ODT, Anjeso

Meloxicam tablets and oral suspension treat the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA). The oral suspension and Zybic™ oral suspension are approved for JRA in children 2 years and older; meloxicam tablets are approved for JRA in patients who weigh at least 60 kg. Meloxicam capsules are approved specifically for the management of osteoarthritis pain.

Two IV (intravenous) formulations — QAMZOVA and XIFYRM — are indicated for adults for the management of moderate-to-severe pain, used alone or with non-NSAID pain relievers. Because these IV forms take time to reach full effect, they are not recommended when rapid pain relief is needed.
