Glipizide, Metformin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Fucus Vesiculosus interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of Fucus vesiculosus with CYP2C9 substrates might increase the risk for adverse effects.
In vitro research shows that fucoidan, a constituent of Fucus vesiculosus, inhibits CYP2C9. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with Metaglip, which combines glipizide and metformin. The glipizide part is handled by a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. In a lab dish, fucoidan (a compound in bladderwrack) slowed that enzyme down. In theory, that could let glipizide build up a bit and lower your blood sugar more than expected. With glipizide, that mainly means low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion). Metformin itself isn't really cleared by this enzyme, so it's the glipizide we'd watch.

That said, this is only test-tube evidence and hasn't been seen in real people, so I'd file it as a minor, theoretical concern. Bladderwrack's bigger issue is its iodine load affecting your thyroid. Since you're managing diabetes, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
